Coinciding with the momentum of the November 10 Heroes Day, Gandung Pardiman, a senior Golkar party politician who is also the chairman of the DIY Golkar party’s DPD, invites all parts of the nation to understand the story of the journey of the nation.
The man who also served as the commander of the Movement of Anti-Communist Forces (Gepako) refused to abolish MPRS Decree No. XXV/MPRS/1966 regarding the dissolution of the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) and its declaration as a prohibited organization in the entire territory of the Republic of Indonesia for the PKI. The MPRS Decree also prohibits any activity of disseminating or developing communist/Marxist-Leninist ideology or teachings.
“Golkar DIY rejects the abolition of MPRS Decree No. XXV/MPRS/1966 and refuses to apologize to the PKI”, he underlined on Thursday (10/11).
Returning to the question of understanding history, Gandung urges historians not to remain silent in observing the dynamics of the nation in recent times. He asked historians to speak openly about the history of the PKI’s betrayal of the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia. Don’t try to twist the facts.
Commission VII member DPR RI admitted that he couldn’t help but think about the current developments. The threat of the rise of the PKI is not fiction. Increasingly obvious symptoms or signs on the surface. He again called on all the children of the nation not to be silent. If this silence is maintained, the threat to change Pancasila is very open.
“It’s an ideological problem. There is no negotiation with ideology. Pancasila is in a threatened position, we must not just remain silent,” he said.
Gandung also called on the TNI/Polri to stand firm against the threat of rising communism. TNI/Polri are the main pillars of the nation in the custody and upkeep of Pancasila. “Don’t let the TNI/Polri be vulnerable,” he said.
On this occasion, Gandung stressed that the people need and continue to remember the great services of the second President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soeharto. Thanks to the figure of Suharto, the Indonesian people survived the threat of communism. The attitude of the first commander Kostrad in the fight and the annihilation of the PKI should be appreciated. “We have Pak Harto to thank,” he said.
In an effort to maintain and inflame anti-communist attitudes, Gandung will soon hold a special consolidation in mid-November. This Gepako commander plans to bring together various anti-communist elements in Yogyakarta, Surakarta and Central Java regions in the near future. The goal is to build solidity in order to fight against the rise of communist influence.
“Gepako is ready to be at the forefront. We invite young people to join us. This special consolidation is our effort to close our ranks,” said Imogiri man Bantul.
He also spoke critically about the emergence of pressure on the government to apologize to the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno and his family. The push for the state to apologize has been met with resistance from various elements of society.
He thought apologies were useless. There are still many national affairs that are more pressing than these issues. Thus, the understanding of history takes place complete and intact. “Every child in the nation is obligated to fully understand history so that history is irreversible history,” Gandung concluded.
